Supervisor Central Kitchen


At Umamido we do more than making the perfect bowl of ramen… “We nourish people”. How do we do this? With “honest” ramen, made of customized noodles and ethically farmed ingredients, served in one of our own slow-cooked broths. Why? “We love sharing our passion for Japan”.


As a Supervisor Central Kitchen, you will be responsible for the operations of a central food preparation kitchen, from which various food items are prepared for distribution to our various restaurants in Belgium and Switzerland.

Your managerial tasks will include:

  • you will supervise the preparation and distribution of all food items to assigned restaurants, assuring a smooth process at all times
  • you will oversee procedures and practices, optimize them in a more efficient way
  • you will draw up the production planning, taking into account operational needs and assimilate the work schedules of the team members accordingly
  • you will act as a People Manager, responsible for supervising, training and evaluating team members
  • you will be responsible for keeping control over stock levels and placing orders
  • you will ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations at all times

Together with your team members, you will also perform operational work. These tasks include:

  • receiving food deliveries, checking quantities, performing quality controls to meet the food safety standards and storing everything in the correct place
  • processing different food preparations, ranging from cutting, slicing, cooking, baking, fermenting, crumbing and marinating:
    • meat and seafood
    • vegetables
    • sauces and marinades
  • packing all items according to the standards and preparing them for safe transportation
  • maintaining cleanliness in the workplace by cleaning and doing maintenance on the general infrastructure, working surfaces, (cooking) materials, ventilation, machinery, toilets and the refrigerated vehicle, strictly following the cleaning plan checklists
  • respecting the hygiene regulations (HACCP) at all time


  • at least 5 years of operational experience in an industrial food preparation environment
  • demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in People Management
  • strong focus on compliance with strict standards, procedures and regulations
  • excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with staff in diverse multicultural work environments
  • fluent communication skills in English, knowledge of Dutch and French is definitely a plus
  • independent and proactive work attitude, setting and achieving goals in an efficient way
  • flexibility in time and mindset
  • ability to work in areas which are often uncomfortable, wet, slippery, warm, and noisy; ability to work in the temperatures found in hot kitchens and walk-in refrigerators and freezers
  • loyalty and perseverance towards a long-term engagement
